This unique laser keyboard could make your life easier. File art supplied by I-Tech.

Brand new laser technology gives smart phones full-size keyboards ... and gives you a rest from typing on tiny buttons.

The smart-phone has become a staple of the business class. But along with the convenience of the Blackberry, Treo and other smart-phones in the industry, comes a pervasive problem: a wee little thumb-pad keyboard, perfectly designed -- if you're a Leprechaun. So tiny and hard to use are these keyboards, you need the eyes of a hawk and thumbs of steel to use regularly.

(Seriously, I've seen "crackberry" addicts with thumbs so swollen they look like Uma Thurman in "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues.")

Thankfully, someone found a solution.

The I-Tech Virtual Laser Keyboard hopes to improve on the usefulness of the smart-phone and ease the swelling.

By creating an invisible field with infrared and laser technology, this device can project a full-size image of a keyboard on any flat surface. It even has keyboard sound effects to add to the realism.

It connects to your phone via wireless Bluetooth, so no additional connections are re-quired. At about the size of a standard cellphone it shouldn't take up too much space in your pocket or briefcase. The I-Tech Virtual Laser keyboard is currently available and retails for $179.99.
